Financial Update

God was at work all summer, from our kids and student camps, local and global mission trips, weekend Worship, the LIFT Center and so many moments in between.

On Sunday, August 30, 149 people took part in our first immersion baptism service to publicly declare their faith in Jesus. Friends, loved ones and our church family cheered as each person was immersed, celebrating the full sacrament of baptism. The joy across campus was palpable, because every person baptized that day carries an Only God story.

Our Only God series invited people to trust Him with what only He can do: "In ____ as it is in heaven!" Some have walked with Jesus for years. Others have only just begun. But all of them stepped into the water claiming a brand-new life in Christ.

Baptism brings the four steps of Only God to life:

  1. Live Deep with Jesus. Baptism is a public "yes" to a life rooted in Him.
  2. Show Up with Expectancy. We gathered expecting God to move, and He did.
  3. Relate with Everyone. No one stepped into the water alone. A whole community surrounded them.
  4. Risk it All for What Matters Most. Each person took a bold step of faith in front of the people who love them.

Your generosity is about more than numbers on a page. When you give to Christ Church, you help make room for more Only God stories, like this celebration. Your giving makes life change possible, week after week. Thank you for giving, praying and showing up.

There are more Only God stories to come, and we can't wait to celebrate them with you.

Financial Summary

Revenue is tracking close to last year, but well below budget, and leadership is working to rein in a modest operating overspend in Q4.

Revenue | $9.40M. That is $1.84M under budget but only 4% below last year.

Expenses | $13.04M, which is $1.06M over budget. The majority of the overage is due to

  • Two Board-approved capital expenditure items paid from cash reserves
    • $140K additional mortgage paydown
    • $596K steeple roof replacement
  • Operating expense overspend | After adjusting for timing, operating expenses are $193K over budget, mainly from higher staff and ministry services costs. Senior leadership has committed to the Trustees to bring Q4 spending closer to budget.

After the budgeted prior-year reserves and transfers, the quarter closed with a net deficit of $2.10M, mostly because revenue came in below budget.
