“Crosswords” Sermon Series

February 29 - April 12

“If Easter means anything to modern man, it means that eternal truth is eternal. You may nail it to the tree, wrap it up in grave clothes and seal it in a tomb. But truth crushed to earth shall rise again. Truth does not perish. It cannot be destroyed. It may be distorted. It has been silenced temporarily. It has been compelled to carry its cross to Calvary's brow or to drink the cup of poisoned hemlock in a Grecian jail, but with an inevitable certainty after every Black Friday dawns truth's Easter.”
- Donald Harvey Tippet

The last words people speak before dying are precious gifts. What pours out in those last breaths often reveals a person's true character and what they long for others to know. This is doubly so with Jesus. The seven last statements He makes from the cross not only tell us more about His remarkable character, they also reveal a pathway for us to find life abundant and eternal. Even in His dying, Jesus shows us how to really live.

In this series, we will:

  1. Introduce a new generation of seekers and disciples to the “Seven Last Words of Christ” - the final utterances of Jesus from the cross.
  2. Show people how, even as He died, the Lord of Life demonstrated what it means to truly live.
