Notice of Special Meeting About Our Butterfield Property

Dear Christ Church family, 

This weekend, we shared an important update regarding the future of our Butterfield location. We want to provide additional context about the opportunity before us, why the Board believes it is worth pursuing and what happens next. 

Christ Church has received an unsolicited offer to purchase the Butterfield property. We believe this presents a unique opportunity to steward the value of this property in a way that strengthens Christ Church and advances our mission for years to come. 

We also recognize the significance of what we are considering. Butterfield is much more than a building. It is a place where people have worshiped, built community, grown in their faith, and served others. We are deeply grateful for all God has done through the ministry at Butterfield. 

We are especially mindful of the LIFT Center and the many people who have invested so much in this ministry. Our commitment to serving our local community has not changed. While a sale would eventually change how and where the LIFT Center operates, we remain committed to continuing and expanding its impact in our surrounding communities. 

Throughout Christ Church’s history, we have sought to faithfully steward the people, resources and opportunities God has entrusted to us. We believe this is another such moment, an opportunity to prayerfully consider how these resources can best support our mission in the years ahead.

After extensive prayer, discussion, and careful evaluation, the Board of Trustees unanimously recommends that the congregation approve the proposed sale. 

In accordance with our Constitution, Christ Church members will have the opportunity to vote on the proposed sale at a Special Congregational Meeting: 

Sunday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m. 
Christ Church, Auditorium | Oak Brook

We want every member to understand what is being proposed, why the Board is recommending the sale, and what it could mean for Butterfield.
