Results of Special Meeting About Our Butterfield Property

October 5, 2026

Dear Christ Church Family,

At last night's Special Congregational Meeting, Christ Church members voted to approve the proposed sale of our Butterfield property to DuPage County. The motion to approve the sale received a 96% vote of approval from our members, well exceeding the two-thirds approval required by our Constitution. With that approval, Christ Church will now move forward with the sale process, which is subject to approval by DuPage County at their upcoming board meeting.

We are grateful to everyone who participated in this process–whether by attending meetings, asking thoughtful questions, praying, or voting. We recognize the significance of this decision, particularly for those with deep connections to Butterfield, the LIFT Center and the ministries that have called that campus home.

We are deeply grateful for all God has done through Butterfield and the people, relationships, ministries and partnerships that have served our community there. That history matters, and our commitment to local mission and serving those in need remains strong.

In the weeks ahead, the Trustees and senior staff will work with DuPage County to complete the remaining steps of the sale and continue planning for the transition of worship and ministries currently operating at Butterfield. As shared previously, the Saturday night service will move to Oak Brook in early December and the LIFT Market will continue operating at Butterfield through the school year while we identify a new location for the entire LIFT Center, with a goal of transitioning to that location in fall 2027. We will share additional details and timing as plans are finalized.

Thank you for the prayer, care and unity you have brought to this important decision. As we move forward, we remain committed to faithfully stewarding all God has entrusted to Christ Church and continuing the mission we share together.
