Resilient's new “Upstart” program connects non-college-bound students with professional mentors, helping them learn the skills required to seek a rewarding, lucrative career in the construction trades — with unique opportunities to enter a trade apprenticeship program.

Upstart Program: Volunteer Opportunities

Test Prep Training Class Lead:
The Test Prep Training Class Lead will guide a 2.5-hour class session of a small group of students, keeping them on track with time, organization and answering questions pertaining to the use of the test prep software system. The 2.5 hours will consist of opening interactive dialogue, direction on the night procedure, introduction of guest speaker and closing dialogue. This individual should like being with “teenagers,” have a sense of using a computer-based software system, and have good organizational skills to stay on track .
Time Commitment: 2.5 hours per month (1 session per month)

Spiritual Mentor:
This individual should have a calling for mentoring and compassion and patience.
Time Commitment: A minimum of 2.5 hours per week — more if the mentor feels it’s needed.

Technical Mentor:
This individual should be able to assist in answering questions related to work, daily life needs, etc.
Time Commitment: 2.5 hours per week — more if the mentor feels it’s needed.
