Christmas Shoebox Gifts

Christmas can be a challenging time for families in need, and pressing financial obligations often mean little or no money left over for children’s gifts. Join the Food Pantry Team in providing Christmas Shoeboxes to bless these precious children with presents. In many cases, the gift you donate or pack will be the only one a child receives.

Shoebox gifts will be distributed to children between the ages of 4 and 8 by our participating mission partners and the Christ Church Butterfield congregation. Thank you for making a difference in the life of a child!

Daily dropoff is now available at our Oak Brook branch! Please drop off gift donations in the back of the big, white truck in the main parking lot by sliding boxes or bags beneath the rear door.

Butterfield dropoff is available on the days listed below.

Dropoff deadline for both locations is Sunday, December 6.

Who Distributes the Christmas Shoeboxes I Donate?
•Christ Church/Salvation Army Food Pantry | Oakbrook Terrace
•Butterfield Corridor Community | Lombard/Downers Grove
•Christ’s Vineyard | Chicago
•Inner City Impact | Chicago
•LOVE Christian Clearinghouse: Toy Express | Clarendon Hills
•Caring Network Illinois | Downers Grove
•Resilient | Villa Park
•Salam Christian Fellowship | Lombard

How Can I Donate a Christmas Gift Shoebox?

Step 1: Fill your shoebox (or any box or bag from home) with items that would bring joy to a child:

  • Hat and Gloves
  • Socks
  • Comb/Hair Pick
  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste
  • Crayons
  • Candy
  • Small Toys or Stuffed Animals
  • Board Games
  • School Supplies or Art Supplies

Step 2: Detach the sheet taped to the box and cut out either the "BOY" or "GIRL" label. Tape the label to the top of the shoebox to indicate if the gift is for a boy or a girl. If donating items without a shoebox, please include a note indicating the gender intended.

Step 3: Return your filled, unwrapped and unsealed shoeboxes to either the Oak Brook or Butterfield campus by Sunday, December 6 so they can be sorted and prepared for wrapping. Drop filled shoeboxes (or bags of items) off on the back of the big white truck in the parking lot.

All shoeboxes will be wrapped by volunteers at our Butterfield campus throughout the month of November. Interested in wrapping some shoeboxes? Email us at or call Doug Nelson at 630.674.7116.
