Disaster Relief
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34
We live in an unpredictable world where natural disasters and events upend communities in what feels like a matter of seconds. From tornados, hurricanes and floods to war and conflict, we are eager to provide resources and assistance to impacted communities. When you give to Christ Church, your generosity makes it possible for us to provide shelter, food and water to those affected.
Responding to Domestic Disasters in 2025
Through the generosity of our congregation, Christ Church was able to disburse funds to support relief efforts for several national and global disasters. Domestically, in response to the wildfires in Los Angeles, in January of 2025 we released $20,000 to Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, California. Lake Avenue is a prominent and well-known church in the community with several ties to Christ Church. The funds were disbursed to help local neighbors, and the congregation rebuild after the significant loss in that area.
In February we released $10,000 to support relief efforts in the wake of abrupt changes to federal immigration funding. Resources were disbursed to World Relief to provide ongoing care and support to newly arrived refugees. Many families who were already vetted and approved for entry to the United States arrived only to find out that the resources promised to them upon entry were no longer available. Christ Church and dozens of other local congregations stepped in to help fill this gap.
In July we disbursed $10,000 to local relief efforts in response to the flooding near Kerrville, Texas. Texans on Mission was identified as a prominent, local, Christian organization providing aid to numerous families and organizations.
Global Relief in 2025
Throughout 2025 we’ve disbursed funds to Kenya, Myanmar, and Iran to provide relief in the wake of earth quakes, flooding and additional crises in those countries.
Prayer
As with any disaster, the need for prayer and support extends far beyond the small window of time these events receive in our news cycles. Impacted communities will struggle for years to come and one of the great supports that the church provides is ongoing prayer. Please remember the crises listed above and all that have come before them. We are grateful that Christ Church is not only a generous congregation, but also a prayerful one.
