Inner City Impact | Remote Learning Helpers

Inner City Impact (ICI) provides after-school programs, camps and leadership development opportunities for the urban children of Chicago’s Humboldt Park, Logan Square and now Cicero. ICI exists to present the living Christ to kids through discipleship and by integrating them into the local church.

Overcoming the Challenges of Remote Learning

Inner City Impact is consistently evaluating the best way to meet the needs of the families they serve. This is especially true during the COVID season. With Chicago and Cicero Public Schools at 100% remote learning, ICI is now offering a place for students to go in-person to conduct their virtual learning. They will execute this program in their two community centers and at a third location in partnership with Ebenezer CRC in Berwyn, IL.

In order to do this safely and with greatest reach, ICI will have students stay in pods of 10 students and two leaders, with three pods meeting each day. Each pod will have their own entrance, room, and restrooms. Other safety measures include social distancing, face masks and daily temperature checks for everyone. ICI is also limiting leaders to be in contact with 20 or fewer students.

The biggest obstacle to serving these students is the need for adult leaders who are able to be present during the day to make sure students are safe and help with the occasional questions they may have. Are you in a position to help with filling this need for leaders and to help our students with their education this year? Those interested in volunteering will be required to fill out a volunteer application, go through a short training, and pass a background check (unless ICI already has you on-file).
